New Haven Health Atlas: Juvenile Arrests
Crime rates are an indicator of the safety of a community and its quality of life. Many crimes go unreported and many are not resolved with an arrest. Violent crime is a particularly important problem, since it may have particularly lasting impacts on victims, families and the community. The juvenile crime rate is associated with poor community relationships, parental neglect, family dysfunction, and criminality in the family, substance abuse by youth, and family poverty.
