Knowledge Center Resources
Data Documentation
In the Knowledge Center, we will document the origin, importance, and any limitations in the indicators we are using through dedicated pages for each indicator. Each indicator has a page of documentation in the Knowledge Center. The documentation includes the technical definition of the indicator; the numerator, denominator, and calculation; the source, publisher, and method of collection of the data; the strengths and limitations of the indicator; its importance and relevance to results for young children; available disaggregations; and related indicators. The publishers of the data, in nearly all cases state agencies, will be given an opportunity to review and comment on the documentation, and their feedback will be incorporated into the official documentation as appropriate. Users are also encouraged to comment on all of these fields and to offer any additional information they think is relevant. The developers will periodically review user comments and, as appropriate, incorporate them into the official documentation.
We hope that, with time, the comments by users will develop into a robust wiki containing discussions of the ways in which communities and organizations are using the indicators to develop strategies and track progress toward outcomes; links to research and best practices; and technical assistance and support for the community of Portal users.
To access the information on a particular indicator, go to the Data Catalog, find the indicator about which you are seeking information, and click on the "?" button to the left of the indicator name. In the Weave It! visualizations, you can click on the "?" icon to the right of the indicator name in the selector box above the visualization.
