    [Excerpt of feature article by Erik Ofgang, which appeared in C-HIT as well as in major newspapers like the Hartford Courant] Kamyle Dunn used to sleep with her hand resting on her mother’s chest so she could feel it expand and contract and know that her mom hadn’t stopped breathing during the night. Dunn’s mother, Maria Cotto, has long had severe asthma. Dunn inherited the condition, though she has mostly grown out of it as an adult. Now, Dunn’s 12-year-old son also has severe asthma.

  • Food Insecurity Doubles For Families With Children

    [Excerpt of article by Christine Stuart, 9/27/22] The U.S. Census Bureau announced last week that the federal child tax credit contributed to a decline in child poverty and a new survey from DataHaven and Siena College Research Institute found that since its expiration food insecurity for families with children has nearly doubled.
