  • Greater Bridgeport Community Health Needs Assessment 2013

    The Primary Care Action Group completed a community health needs assessment in 2013. The purpose of the assessment was to understand current health trends, needs and assets. New federal legislation requires hospitals to conduct community health assessments every three years. Understanding the current health status of the community is important in order to identify priorities for future planning and funding, the existing strengths and assets on which to build upon, and areas for further collaboration across organizations, institutions, and community groups.

  • The Partnership between the State of Connecticut and Nonprofit Providers

    The focus of this report is the large group of Connecticut residents that utilize State support and services for issues ranging from mental illness to homelessness, substance abuse, poverty, or crime. This study looks at the service delivery system serving this population and the role that nonprofit organizations play in this effort.

    The NAACP Greater New Haven Branch of the NAACP created the Urban Apartheid report, involving DataHaven to work with NAACP staff and board members and contribute the research material used throughout. DataHaven also received a separate contract from the Annie E. Casey Foundation to support its work on the development of this 25-page report. The report includes data from the 2012 DataHaven Community Wellbeing Survey.

  • City youth face uphill battle

    [Excerpt] On Jan. 18, DataHaven released the results of the largest community well-being survey of its kind for New Haven and its surrounding suburbs, conducted in fall 2012 by DataHaven and other city philanthropic organizations. The survey, which addressed city issues including community satisfaction, employment, education and health, uncovered unsettling statistics about New Haven youth. In some areas, the situation looked grim: Few New Haven residents consider the city a good place to raise children.
