"New Haven is getting an early start on ensuring the city counts every resident in the upcoming decennial census — which won’t be an easy feat.

The quest began Tuesday afternoon and evening as about 50 people gathered in the Hall of Records to learn about the importance of getting people to participate in the 2020 census. They also learned about the many challenges to preventing an undercount and started brainstorming solutions to those barriers.

Earlier this year, Horton said, several members began talking about how much they wished that the garden’s work days extended into the winter months. While they weren’t keen on being outside in the cold weather, they wanted something that could still bring people together and leave everyone feeling like they’d had a good workout.

WATERBURY – It may not seem fair to compare Waterbury to Stamford, which benefits from its proximity to New York City, large transportation hub and vibrant corporate climate. But strip those elements away, and you’re left with a city of former factories and mills, just like Waterbury, and a downtown that not long ago faced the same challenges as the Brass City’s.
